About
Access Communication
The
company's Creative Director Andy Baker has been making business
television for over twenty years. In that time he has worked with
some of the country's biggest companies, such as ASDA, Bass Brewers,
The HBOS banking group, and BT producing and directing over a thousand
programmes.
He made his first programme
specifically for a deaf audience in 1989 and being congenitally
deaf in one ear himself, has since taken a keen interest in this
specialist area of programme making. This experience of deaf communication
issues, gained throughout his career, was the basis for the company's
foundation. Since forming Access Communication he has taken his
interest further and gained an NVQ qualification in BSL himself.
Access Communication
retains close links with an experienced team of fully-qualified,
on-screen broadcast BSL interpreters. One particularly close association
is M2ACE a BSL tution and Deaf Awareness and Equality training company.
We have produced BSL
translations of existing spoken English programmes for organisations
such as The Benefits Agency; bespoke BSL research programmes for
Local Government departments and clinical materials for the NHS;
Deaf conference recordings for Leeds Health Action and several public
information programmes for The Leeds Centre for the Blind and Deaf
as well as website video modules for Mind, and Local Authorities.
